A mouse with more controls can be useful if you already know which actions you want to move away from the keyboard. Start by listing the commands you repeat. If you cannot name any, extra buttons alone may be a weak reason to replace a mouse that already works well.
Write a small shortcut plan
The G502 HERO has 11 programmable buttons, with customization through Logitech G HUB. Pick two simple actions to learn first. A large collection of unfamiliar assignments can be harder to remember than your existing keyboard controls.
Check that your computer and operating system can use the software features you want. On a school or work computer, software installation may be restricted. Do not buy around a customization feature until you know you can use it on your actual device.
Allow space for the cable
This guide concerns the wired G502 HERO. Run a spare cable along the path from your computer to the middle of your mouse area. Make sure the cable does not need to stretch around a monitor base or cross your typing area. Leave enough room for the full range of your usual movements.
The manufacturer also describes adjustable weights. Think of that as a preference to explore, not evidence that adding weight improves your aim. Shape, reach and your existing habits still matter, and a specification sheet cannot establish comfort for your hand.
Match the exact listing
Product-family names can hide different models. Confirm that the title and selected option both say G502 HERO and that the connection is wired. For an open-box item, check which accessories are included. Compare the final price and return terms after you have checked the model.
